PSA: For Meta firmware v.59!

Since the latest Meta firmware update, a few of our ports get caught into an infinite loop when starting them for the first time after installation.

The loop happens during the "permissions dialog" that comes up when starting the ports the first time.

Note: This issue only affects new installs!

The workaround for now:
Option 1:
Grant permission through the dialog window and then force the device to pow...

Quake4XR 0.1.2 (In The Shadows)

NOTE: After installing this new version, please ensure you delete Quake4/saves/q4base/Quake4Config.cfg, otherwise you will not get the new defaults in terms of shadows / refresh rate etc.

I'd wanted to drop this a bit sooner, but Quest 3 threw a spanner in the works as the game was not correctly scaling to 72fps. This caused a constant judder. Thankfully fixed after a lot of pain.

Still looking at general improveme...

Please disable the Passthrough mode before starting any Team Beef port for the first time!

Otherwise your headset will be caught in an infinite loop that will need a forced shutdown.

This is only needed for the first startup after installation!

RealRTCW XR Early Access 0.2.0 (performance update)

Hello Patrons

Firstly, my apologies, I promised a RealRTCW XR update "imminently" some time ago, however a combination of the Quest 3 Release and technical issues subsequently got in the way and so this has taken way longer than I intended. However I do hope that this belated release does actually bring some good news..

With the update I had planned to drop I admit I had rather ignored the elephant in the room.. the perf...

QUEST3: Doom3Quest (Live in the Shadows)

The team have all received their Quest 3's and we've been manically testing how good the performance in all ports. Generally, across the board this comes with a healthy resolution bump (as 1.0 sampling is a percentage of the eye buffer provided by the API). Even with the resolution bump, performance has also improved.

We're taking this on a game by game basis. First up, is the fan favourite: Doom 3. Due to some fixes to multi-view ...

RazeXR 1.0.0 is now live on SideQuest!

Hello Patrons!

Exciting news, RazeXR is now at version 1.0.0 and is live on SideQuest for everyone to play, obviously this isn't that exciting for our patrons, but what is exciting is BaggyG has created a fantastic launcher to use with RazeXR that works fantastically (unlike my dodgy earlier 2D efforts). So we would recommend you head over to SideQuest, uninstall the current version of RazeXR on your headset and install...

Early-Access Alpha Quake4 0.1.0 (aka Baby Strogg's First Flashlight)

My Nan used to say "small apples are sweet". But, then again, she was never involved in a Strogg invasion. Here's a quick QoL release for Quake 4 with two small changes.

1) You can now toggle the flashlight on and off using the left joystick click.

2) You no longer have a permadeath crash situation looming over your head like some sort of Strogg Sword of Damocles.

Be aware depending how you were killed the view ...

Hello Patrons!

I hope this finds you all not too traumatised by your recent experience of Stroggification in first person!

In something of a Team Beef "Shock and Awe" tactic, hot on the heals of the recent Quake4 patreon release comes some more exciting news..  Return to Castle Wolfenstein is coming to a PCVR headset near you soon!

In fact, there's quite a bit more to it than that. This isn't simply a PCVR conversion of ...

Early Access Alpha Quake 0.0.9 (aka Baby Strogg)

Its time to share a very early in-development version of Quake 4. This has been a strange project and considering the amount of work already sunk into it, we'd usually be far further along. But for the reasons described in previous Patreon posts its taken a long time to get the core both stable enough and with the potential that we can add enough work, fixes and polish to make it a compelling VR mod.

However, I think th...

Quake4XR Update

So the last time I left you folks, we had no particles in Quake4 whatsoever and needed to come up with some alternatives to make this game playable. As shown in the video, I have made significant progress!

The particles themselves were quite a challenge if I didn't want to completely replace the existing renderer. Even when they were working due to the extra complications of Multiview, there were a number of effects which were caus...

Exciting news!, the PCVR build now contains the binaries for both Jedi Outcast _and_ Jedi Academy. Furthermore, this update also includes a new version of the standalone apk (for Meta Quest and Pico devices), since both versions now share the same code-base, there were a number of fixes and changes required following the merge.

As always, we are eager to hear of any issues/bugs you might experience, if you do find so...

PSA: JKXR PCVR 1.1.14 - Missing Saves Issue/Solution

Just a quick one.. as some people have noticed it seems their save games have disappeared after updating to the 1.1.14 early access build earlier today.

Don't worry, they haven't been lost.. it turns out that when I was merging the PCVR project with the standalone build and then recreating the project files, I ticked a box that means it no longer uses your documents folder to save things, and uses the standard JKO folder...

The day has arrived.. the first Team Beef PCVR build of one of our OpenXR Standalone Ports! and hopefully the first of several more in the future. This isn't our first PCVR port, if you've not played BaggyG's VR port of Bendy and the Ink Machine, then I would highly recommend it!, but this is the first that involved taking an existing standalone port to PCVR.

JKXR 1.1.12-ea Early Access Build

Dear Patrons

Another "this is probably the last" JKXR update for you. Pretty much all the issues on the Trello board that we feel are important have now been addressed, and Bummser is feverishly working away at curating a great set of mods for the launcher (which will be a separate update at some point), all prior to a full public release.

The biggest change for this release is the fact that with the Team Beef Director's Cut settin...

Where's Quake4XR?

Very good question, thanks for asking! I've been wanting to give an update on this for awhile as I work through some of the biggest issues. As you may have seen from the previous video, the game runs and somewhat works. The elephant in the room is the closed source advanced particle system that Quake 4 used. This was unique to Quake4, so ports like Doom 3 or Prey did not have this to contend with.

Although some effects that use thi...

RazeXR 0.2.5

Hello Patrons

So after dropping the last RazeXR update, I got a little carried away with a few of the other bits and bobs in RazeXR that weren't _quite right_ (or just wrong), to the extent that I think with this update, it is in a pretty decent state; certainly good enough for me to leave it be for a time at least.

One of the main issues people were having was the way the screen jittered about when firing weapons in Blood, this is...

It's getting late here, so I'll keep this fairly brief.. as you know it has been quite a while since the last RazeXR update. Unable to sleep at night, we did the same to our Quest 2s and fortunately have found the source of the issue (an un-in...
