Starsprite skills

Here's a sneak preview of what I'm working on this week. By summoning starsprites and using their powers to aid him in battle, Kinoko will be able to gain their increased trust and level up his friendship. Doing so will gain him friendship points, which can be used to unlock new abilities!

I'm using existing functionality here for the sake of testing - the raygun and flying won't actually be unlocked in this manner, instead you'll see th...

Starsprite colours

Sorry it's been a while! Still working out what exactly we want to do with starsprites in our game, so I came up with ideas for some of their passive abilities. Each starsprite colour has its own passive effect, and the player can summon multiple of them at a time to combine and multiply these benefits.

I still need to work out what benefits to give to the white and orange starsprites.

Starsprites HUD

A concept I worked for how starsprites might look on the game's HUD. Each time you gain another slot, the star will gain another point, and your current starsprites will be identified with the corresponding colour sprites.

Some people might've noticed that one of the options in the N.E.X is Constellations, well here's your answer.

Constellations are 'skill trees' in our game, they all work as you would expect, pick a perk and it branches out to other perks. In this game we have multiple constellations dedicated to each 'god' themed around what they specialise in.

As usual, any suggestions and critique is always helpful!

N.E.X Concept art.

Been working on the N.E.X - specifically the 'Alienpedia' which we have renamed to the Codex, (keep in mind that the images are just placeholders. )

How it works is like this: the species you've scanned will be registered into the N.E.X. It works like a Pokedex but instead of automatically registering creatures when you encounter them for the first time, you have to manually scan them. I'll explain some of the functions Hovering ...

Using 3D models

Whenever I find it hard to visualise a certain animation in my mind, I will often make 3D models to trace over in Animate. This allows me to position and pose them exactly how I want them before I draw the frames indiviudally.

Concept art of the N.E.X

Galactic's "Nexus Engine X-9000", or "N.E.X." for short, boasts capabilities that far surpass the electronic devices we're used to on Earth. This alien supercomputer can be operated as either a tablet or a laptop, and its broad feature set makes it the perfect companion for any travelling adventurer. It also very good at collecting data from other species, much like a Pokedex, since our game is going to be designed around collecting data.

Constellation patterns

Each new initiate into the Order of the Galactic Halo recieve their own set of cultist robes which they wear on official cult business. Unlike the robes of higher-ranking members, these robes are considerably more basic, being plain white with simple gold adornments. However, they do have one unique aspect: their constellation pattern.

This pattern is unique to each member, to the point that members can be identified and told apart...
