Chapter 62. A Little Fox That Could

Aikerim Kiymetl Adal

“I expect that you are familiar with Accords?” The Samat Speaker leisurely walked across the open forum of the Summit.

“I hope you aren’t asking me for a lesson,” Amanzhan was quick to riposte.

Aikerim nodded to herself as she sat to the side of her sister. Either Amanzhan Irada regained some of her sharp wit when Albin Chasya disappeared from Samat or she had found someone else...

Chapter 61. Rude Awakening

AN: Chapter refused to end and because of that grew all the way to almost 6k words

Bragge Archomilea the Third

“He is heading into the Forest,” one of his whispers murmured into his ear.

“Is he now? Just walking in, all alone? How daring.” He didn’t even bother to move, as he permitted the multitude of hands to comb h...

Chapter 60. Subversions

Bold claims and outrageous statements did their job — they created engagement. Patriarch Irfan got the perfect opportunity to reveal me as the fraud he thought I was and get rid of me once and for all without too much hassle, rather than keep dismissing me as a spoiled lapdog of a frivolous wermage.

And the opportunity he undoubtedly took while I was entertaining the rest of the thumb by acting like a wilful murk that refused to stop r...

Yeva

“Shouldn’t they come to us, instead?” she asked Domina.

“Yes, they should,” Aikerim put down the looking glass but kept her gaze on the approaching ship, “but I can’t let other Pillars harass them on the way to my Manor.”

Shahin pulled her cloak tighter around her body. “We have our customs, Yeva. Aikerim Adal would not offend my cousins by coming here in person.”

“I am more c...

Going to stop posting heads up if the chapter will come around thursday.

Considering how i unfortunately consistent with those, I might as well bite the bullet and stop making posts that chapter is one day or less away since it just turns into notification spam. As always i will try to reply to comments so that it doesn't feel like I vanished.

The sheer influx of new characters is wrecking my writing speed as I need to find the groove for each one so that I can write them without multiple rewrites and split ...

Chapter 58. The New Mule in Town

“Um, Anaise,” I carefully asked, “what is this?”

“You do not recognise your own creation, my dear husband?” she sashayed closer to me with a devious smile on her face.

I tried to ignore the sway in her hips and keep my eyes on the wobbly blob of darkness in her hands. “I know a printed polymer when I see it, but they are usually inert. Despite how it looks, Navigators aren’t in the habit of cre...

The usual shame

While i tend to write chapters in about a week, it is hard to catch up as often i am rather tired after the previous week's not exactly rush but "forced march" to finish the chapter so that my mind turns into a mush after finishing it for a while and stopping me from writing the next one right away.

This chapter will be done in a few hours, or maybe half a day if I can't finish it tonight and need to take a sleep break.

Chapter 57. The Moist Consequences

“Tell me Erf,” Anaise said without taking her eyes off the scroll she was reading, “have you thought about getting a given name?”

“No?” I scratched my head. “Besides, picking a name for myself feels rather weird. A name given to me by my mother would be better than anything I would come up with. At least as I see it.”

“I hope she does,” she replied. “Otherwise my mother would need to do it. A Domina is the mot...

Chapter 56. A Wet Djinn

Muramat Kamshad Nishad

The trained steps silently carried him where Muramat expected his quarry to be. Not that he had to try hard to do either — the loud grunts and cracks made tracking easy and silence unnecessary. But some things were more than a habit by now.

The wermage was entertaining herself by releasing anger on the trees, clawing and punching the green trunks until they turned into...

Chapter 55. A Pound of Feathers is Heavier Than A Pound of Steel

AN: *Does the Jedi trick* This is still Wednesday somewhere, I promise!

Roshanak Kamshad Gulnaz

“…Then let us discuss the main reason why we gathered here today.” Roshanak looked at two other Matriarchs and the Speaker of Kosenya. “The Kiymetl.”

It was unfortunate that Roxanna wasn’t here in person, but her presence was critical in the north. Moreover,...

Chapter 54. The Bass Drop

AN: there goes my attempt to overtake... but at least i caught up with Christmas delays!

“…And you essentially decided to concentrate on chords with the guitar?”

I shrugged, paying very little attention to Albin’s strumming. “I wouldn’t say it like that. Emanai kitharas do have chords in them, but, since a chord is usually played by three or more strings, it is hard to get a lot of varie...

Chapter 53. Resolving Kinks

Aikerim Kiymetl Adal

“So this is the so-called carding machine?” Aikerim asked her companion, glancing away from the beast of wood and metal.

Yeva nodded. “Yes. I can start it at any moment if you wish to see it in action.”

Domina felt something weird inside her chest when she looked at the enormous spiky cylinders in front of her. She couldn’t make sense ...

Schedule update

I will take 1 week off to catch up on everything, specifically the latest chapter that is still about 2-3 days late from the Christmas and New Year delays.

I will continue to work on the recent chapters and release them as they appear so it is possible that I might end up with an extra chapter by the end of the break for the top tier as it suffered the most from my delays.

Thank you for understanding.

Chapter 52. When Extremes Collide

Mansiya the Wise

It was hard to open her eyelids, but Mansiya couldn’t hear any sounds outside of her room so she didn’t hurry. This weakness of her body was expected just as it was transient. An unpleasant but acceptable price for her desire.

The light shone through the sand of her sleep and Mansiya couldn’t stop a wince — the dusk of an evening felt like midday’s scorchi...

Mineral deposits

This is a general map of areas where certain ores are more likely to be found. This should shed some light about where Tin (Sn) deposits could be for example And possibly give some additional insight for the future.

Just because some areas have certain elements doesn't mean the others lack it. For example Iron is virtually everywhere, But certain areas would likely have more places where it would be affordable to mine it.

Chapter 51. Hands Off, Hands On

“Is this what arms are like?” I nudged my companion.

Albin glanced at the bedlam I was gesturing at and chuckled. “Of course not. Arms are much bigger in size. Besides, weren’t you the one to preach about Emanai food challenges — why are you so surprised to see it in person?”

I sighed. The two of us were in the eye of a storm, an isle of calmness in the sea of organised chaos. Kamshad and Kishava w...

He ran his hand down his beard, throwing a str...

“You don’t need to hide anymore, he is gone.”

The sudden words made her jump and turn around. Yeva stood at the entrance of the green house, with Vera clutching at her leg. Chapter 48. The Private Plots

“Can you tell me more about Emanai Manors waging battles, Anaise?” I murmured as my hand continued to comb her tail.

After yet another day of travel, we entered yet another city to stay for the night. The maps did not lie — small towns had been conveniently established along the road exactly one day of travel apart. Both to serve as a place to stay and a local market for the nearby peasantry. Yet another nod to the pace ...

Despite Isra’s incessant clanking, Yeva’s inner courtyard was still quieter than the hum of a crowd in front of Aikerim’s atrium. She wasn’t sure how one could enjoy so much noise, let alone Domina with her large foxy ears, but Yeva didn’t ju...

Chapter 45. The Razor Slash

Anaise Kiymetl Hilal

“I do not see any training weapons, Mushaf.” Anaise glanced around with a properly expressed look of surprise.

Group bathing and luxurious dinners weren’t the only ways to spend time and meet your equals in Samat. Especially when it came to the young elites of Emanai society. Manors would also routinely invite each other to witness their training.
