The funeral parlor story was entirely ad-libbed by actor John Candy. The expression on Kevinโs momโs (Catherine OโHara) face was genuine. In addition, Candyโs scenes were filmed in less than 24 hours due to his tight schedule. The adult actors were forbidden from swearing since there were many children on set, and a swear jar was put out. Joe Pesci, who was fresh out of filming gangster movie Goodfellas, reportedly filled it within a single day.
