Crazy pool vortex was my first, then 7 science experiments with surface tension was fun to replicate at home. That was the year I applied to MIT. I was so excited to learn that Dianna went there, and the fact that she moved from Hawaii gave me the confidence to move from Alabama and go!

Happy belated Birthday Dianna!💖🎉 Off the top of my head my favorite is the moving mud puddle. Just seeing that such a phenomenon even exists was so unexpected. I love when the world surprises me like that. But, getting to see it for the first time presented with your curiosity, energy and unfiltered joy takes it to another level. I always show my Physics IV class the video on the Twin Paradox, so I guess that's a favorite. But my daughter took my class this year and tried to recreate the video in which Dianna breaks a wine glass through resonance. So I think that one would be my new favorite.

My favorite video is Crazy pool vortex and The boat puzzle. The vertex shows me a cool physics is surrounding me and the boat shows me how to think a physics problem. But later I realized the real change came from the Dianna's Intro Physics Class. I like many videos, but they are like cakes. It is delicious and memorable. But the class is like everyday meal. Mt. Wilson definitely looked lovely. That "inversion layer" shot was like being on an island in a cloud sea. Have you all been to Mauna Kea's observatories? That'd be some amazing footage too! I know I'm a little late in responding. So.. belated Happy Birthday.. I grew up in the 60's/early 70's watching Don Herbert's "Watch Mr. Wizard" which instilled a sense of wonder and a life long curiosity for science. I believe that Diane has been providing the same sense of wonder for the current generation of kids (and adults). I place the "Physics Girl" channel with Derek Muller's Veritasium, and Grant Sanderson's 3Blue1Brown as excellent examples of inspiring people for math and science.

The one with the candle in the box. It was so joyful, I think that's the one that made me subscribe. Edit: also, funny thing... I became a patron recently and I just got something in the mail. I normally don't receive random small parcels and I didn't recognize this one; I'd been expecting something else so I opened it. A cow. It is a sticker. It has "PHYSICS GIRL" on the rim. It made me happy. I think I'll give it to my niece; her mother is a teacher and it would be nice to tell her the story of the kind people it came from. Also she's a toddler and she loves animals. I always stick around to the end of the videos, you see, and I catch the little jokes at the end in the credits. This felt like that. Thank you.

Craziest thing I remember is that Antimatter Exists and is being made at enormous cost at CERN. I love how approachable Dianna makes Physics and the energy to which she conveys information. Relating to Covid, I always see you have her in dark rooms covered. Have you considered Vitamin D therapy using UV or UV lights? I know the research is yet to be completed on correlations between Fibromyalgia and vitamin d but there is evidence. I don't know of any potential downsides to trying it. Just a thought. I can't remember the exact video, but something that I keep coming back to is the video about scientists saying that they had discovered that there was something that the didn't know what it was. Hi Diana, I miss seeing your smiling face and wonderful science explanations and explorations. At the risk of sounding like "boy have I got the miracle cure for YOU!" I want to share something. Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with possible Fibromyalgia too. it seemed to be a sort of catch-all net that doctors were using to try to explain the unexplainable. Granted, my issues did not follow a terrible Covid bout, but they were similar-pain, joint pain so bad I couldn't lift my arms to put on a sweater, walking across the room and getting out of bed could be excruciating, skin pain from hyperactive nerves, stomach and gut issues, headaches, stress and, worst of all, fatigue and weakness. All I wanted was to sleep. I gave up on my doctors and went to see a naturopath who suspected a food allergy. She put me on an elimination diet which was SO difficult! When I already felt horrible, I could now add slow starvation to my list of ailments! But with the help of my naturopath, we determined that I did indeed have food allergies and they had been going on so long that I had "leaky gut", someting that was very new back then. My immune system was being attacked by my own body, and vice versa, I guess. And worse, everytime I got sick, which was often, my immune system over-reacted and the pain got worse. Maybe you have already eliminated the possiblilites of food or other allergies. But if you haven't considered it as a partial cause of your condition, please do. Maybe finding a reputable naturopath can alleviate at least some of your symptoms. It worked wonders for me and my health, and I no longer have a "diagnosis" of "Fibromyalgia." I hope this helps and isn't just one more "have-you-tried-this" letters when I am certain you have tried just about everything by now. Please get well, your viewers miss your lovely face and personality.

I love how the video "Singing this note is impossible" starts with an observation and people keep insisting that the observation has to be wrong since it does not match their intuition. I also love the raving at end of the video "Which tank fills first" regarding all the details that make answering the question difficult. I feel like the true nature of science is on display in some of these moments where everything isn't clear and obvious.

I'm a longtime subscriber to your channel, maybe around the time you had a cooperation with Vanessa Hill of BrainCraft and I think I haven't mist a video since! I really love how you explain things simple, informative and in a funny way. While I love almost all video's, watched them with interest and forgot almost all things you've ever told 😊, I have some video's that I really didn't forget about. I really laughed when you did a video with iJustine. And although the Freefall video with the falling wrecking ball had a lot of calculation explaining, it was interesting to view and understand. And I can name all of them, but my top 2, or actually top 4, videos are the 3 videos about the Toyota hydrogen car vs battery power cars. Every regulator person should watch these to understand why we should invest more in the research to create hydrogen in a cheap way, to be able to build affordable hydrogen cars and start providing hydrogen pumps in every gas station. And my last favorite video is about Schrödinger's cat. Maybe not because of the video explaining the experiment, but because I'm reminded about this video every home working day, because of the plushie that is standing on my homedesk starring at me. My favorite useful thing I've learned from watching Dianna is using a figure 8 instead of a circle to keep things like corded headphones from getting knotted up. I use this same thing when putting away my soft, light-weight garden hose. She just mentioned it in a video one time and it has been so handy. It breaks my heart that she has been so sick. I really liked the relatively recent one on the Death Valley rocks. That was a mystery I read about several times over the years and always wondered about, so it was really cool to hear the answer they had finally discovered. The way Dianna explained and illustrated it made it easy to understand and fun to watch. Though i also really like two or three of the videos where she described the expansion of the universe and how that affects things we see now, will see in the future, and the things we can never see because space is expanding between us and those things faster than the speed of light. Choosing a favorite Physics Girl video was pretty difficult. As a physics teacher, I would show a different video every class, and it was a great way to show how diverse the field of physics is. I did decide on my one favorite video, but here are some honorable mentions of what I thought were really cool, really informative episodes: bandaids sparking, TRAPPIST-1 exoplanets, touchscreens, DIY electric train, laser cooling, vortex rings in the pool, sliding rocks in the desert. All of Physics Girl videos are really well made and fascinating but my one favorite of all time... The Surprising Ways Mars is Hostile to Life. Beautiful video, showed me so much about planetary motion that I didn't know about, really made me appreciate our Moon, and overall it just blew my mind. Happy birthday to Dianna, wish her the best.

Reaching for the butter seemed to take a little longer, one day, about a year ago. The only reasonable explanation was an expanding universe. I began to worry about distance to the bathroom. Worse, I couldn't be sure the expansion rate was equal everywhere, maybe it varied for each observer's time frame. I looked at my cat. How big could he get? I opened some cat food to be safe. But I was also thrilled and went to work fashioning a saddle for a dragonfly in case I got lucky. Then I saw your explanation how the universe expands. I'm a little sad about the dragonfly, but rather relieved about my cat and the bathroom. Here in these parts, we love us our Physics Girl and her grand idea for this wonderful channel. Happy Birthday, Dianna. May this next year, and all the years to come, bring you joy and new opportunities to be curious and to explore what you wonder about. My favourite episode, if I have to choose one, is "It's Official: We were wrong about the big bang." It links to a profound experience I had as a child, in the 1950s, sitting out in the high desert on a hill at summer camp with a camp counsellor, looking at the night sky, so full of stars I was almost completely overwhelmed. The sky was so close and so immense, I was aware of my insignificance in the scheme of things, and yet excited at the same time! I was 9, and it was the first time I'd seen the night sky without any city lights. We sat and wondered about the nature of the universe and whether there had been a "Big Bang". It seemed impossible that everything we could see had come from one tiny place. And that led on to asking all those "big" questions - Where did we come from? - How could we be the only sentient creatures in the universe? - What would it be like to be like to travel to somewhere else in the universe? - Is there a God? Happy Birthday Dianna. To talk about my favorite episode of yours I first have to mention one of my favorite sitcom episodes. It's the Big Bang Theory's episode about Schrodinger's Cat. Love that one. So my favorite episode of yours is obviously the one where you explain Schrodinger's Cat in detail. I liked it so much that when you came out with the Schrodinger's cat plushy, I immediately had to have one. My cat plushy makes me happy every day because she lives on my fireplace mantel (blue side out of course). So many birthday wishes for your health and recovery, Dianna. Hands down, my favorite episode was the first one I saw - the one with Rodney Mullen and the Physics of Skateboarding. Everything about it is just RAD! from the different aspects of the pop and lift of the Ollie, to expanding to the Impossible and the Intermediate Axis Theorem, and the overall awesome interaction between you and such a cool and interesting skater from my youth. I've rewatched and shared that one several times. I also loved the the Physics 101 series. It was so well done and doesn't just cater to one particular audience. I really enjoyed it. The dedication you and the crew bring to informing and educating viewers is wonderful. So, thank you so much to you and the whole crew.

I thought this would be a really hard question. My GoTo books are The Handbook of Particle Physics, Handbook of Chemistry and Physics [All Hail CRC], my dad's Electrical Engineer's Reference, & Machinery's Handbook. And my degree is in Drama [yes I have an Actor's handbook]. But then POOF I knew. The Cern Antimatter series. Specifically the one that included Anti-Hydrogen. I have always been a Particle Physics kinda guy. My first Baskin-Robbins was in Las Alamos,NM. I used to visit the Fermi Labs website every day when the Tevatron was running. My favorite episode by far is "We can see things moving faster than light" from Oct 15, 2021. In that 12 minutes, my eyes were opened to a physical realm that at once was so difficult to wrap my head around, and yet explained so well that it was obvious. Diana, you are an amazing teacher. ONE of my favorites episodes was the breaking of the glass experiment while only using your voice. My fav vid is the sunscreen UV camera episode. I have shown it to thousands of students. Teach it in conjunction with wild parsnip phytophotodermatitis which is moving into our area slowly. Get Better. I got COVID symptoms on my 39th birthday and they think I got type 1 diabetes and axonal neuropathy from it. I was bedridden for months (including my 40th bday) but now coming back. Hope the same happens for you.

¡Feliz cumpleaños! My favourite video was The Surprising Ways Mars is Hostile to Life, the one where you interviewed Raquel Nuno. I watched it so many times! It was so relaxing... back then I had a hard time falling asleep at night so I would put the video on my phone, close my eyes and listen to it. By the middle of it, I'd usually be out. And the videos that were the most useful to me were the ones featured in the Renewable Energy series. They came just as I was starting my Renewable Energies class, which was pretty handy. By the way, I just graduated from Electrical Engineering and your videos helped, so thank you!!! I love many of your videos for helping me understand something better or just for being fun. Two that I have often shown to my high school physics classes are breaking the wine glass with your voice and making the simple electric trains. As a female engineer myself (in my mid-forties) I just love that my 2 young boys can watch Dianna, Mark Rober, Xyla Foxlin and Veritasium all our favorite science show as and they see all of them as scientists, simply credible, knowledgeable scientists with a passion for teaching others. My kids don’t think it’s strange or unusual to see women doing amazing things and I am so thankful that they have had so many phenomenal creators on YouRube to make their experience so different than mine at that age. My favorite episode was shrinking the coin or cracking the wine class. Her enthusiasm is contagious. Much love, Dianna. Get stronger even if it’s only one day at a time. Rest, Recover and BELIEVE. *Also have Kyle go to MedCram and watch a quadruple certified board MD, who believes in vaccines and evidence-based medicine, explain the benefits of near-infrared light for healing. I am a school bus driver, and often, after watching a Diana video, I would try to relate to the kids a bit of what I learned. Often, I didn't quite understand the subject, but enjoyed the "what the heck" aspect, the wonder of something still to learn. One of my favorites was about the expanding universe and seeing galaxies from a distance older than the universe. The real fun is trying to explain things I don't get while flying down the road in a forty foot bus! Get better, please.

Happy Birthday Dianna, know that you have a village praying for you and willing you better. My daughter is a biophysicist, a year from her doctorate. She shoots B-12 proteins with lasers and studies rna. I don't understand it all. Your videos have helped make me understand quite a bit more about what she's been trying to explain to me over the years. They're also helping her decide just what she wants to do with her degree when she's done. The gravitational wave lasers really peaked her interest. The video of the moving rocks in the desert. That was like a whole sherlock holmes and I remember telling other people about it and them having the same “whaaaat?” face that I had when I first heard about it on the video. In a way that video is a good metaphor for this. Those rocks moving took a long time and then something amazing and wonderful came out of it. So will this recovery. Take your time. So many favorites! I especially love the LIGO video with the comparison to real life at the start to get a sense of how sensitive the instruments have to be to detect gravitational waves. And then seeing those instruments! So very cool and special to see. I showed my middle school students; it’s so important for them to get beyond the standard curriculum and see current science. Happy Birthday, Dianna, “Physics Girl” has been a mainstay when my grand-day comes to visit. Although she is only 10, she is so excited by your posts! She now looks at the world around her in a much different way…with great excitement and curiosity. She arrives with a list of so many things she notices daily ,in which she wants to research and finds answers to! Her Pop Pop tells her stories of things he learned about while at MIT, and I tell her how I cut class to got to lectures by outstanding profs when leaving my college to visit him, and how my world was opened to researching my own queries. You have open a new world for her, allowing her the opportunity to believe in her own abilities to the point where she takes back to friends what she has learned, and has becomes a teacher “Just like Dianna.” Thank you for this. Happy Birthday Dianna! So many of your videos are wonderful, but my favorite is probably the first swimming pool vortex ring piece. I'm a physicist and you taught me I had (and still have) a long way to go on communicating enthusiasm of our sport through simple, enthusiastic and even goofy communication. I'm sure Michael Faraday would approve! Your work started me on a path of trying to work out some everyday physics to make the subject more interesting. I recently discovered the PhysicsGirl channel and watched all of Dianna's videos in sequence. At the end I was heartbroken to hear about her current condition. What stands out the most is her perpetually bubbly attitude and the way she isn't afraid to be uncomfortable, try new things, and admit that she doesn't know how something works, then wrestle with it until she finally figures it out. It's that persistence, coupled with all the love and support from her family, friends, and fans, that makes me confident she will eventually make it through this. ❤️ Some favorites of mine would be the anti-bubbles, ping-pong gun, and the experiments-at-home episodes. Happy Birthday Dianna!! I think a few of my favorite videos are probably the ones Kyle also makes his appearance in. One of them are the multiple science experiments in a minute that you can do at home. This is the one where Dianna runs around the kitchen doing multiple science experiments back to back. I think Kyle comes and turns off the cooking range after one of the experiments. Another cool one is where you explain how a soccer ball moves in the air and connect that to hurricanes. I think Kyle was in that video too. But my most favorite one and i don't think it is on the channel anymore is one of the first videos on the channel about 10 things to do with a physics degree. My favorite videos are the, "Explaining ______ to my editor," videos because 1) Diana's enthusiasm for the topics was always very clear when she was talking off the cuff, and 2) because Levi often asked the questions I had. Like, I enjoy all of Diana's videos that I watch, but the more casual, "Explain it to me like I know nothing," style really worked for me, as someone who generally knows nothing. Diana would have made a great classroom teacher in an alternate reality where YouTube didn't exist.

The video with the parallel moving shadows in the pool. I loved how a simple observation got turned into a repeatable experiment (using a plate) and then working out what was happening (semi circular vortex) using physics theory… then testing that theory using food dye… I showed this video with a then-13 year old when he was showing me idiots pranking each other. Great to watch it grease his thinking gears!

Crazy pool vortex was my first, then 7 science experiments with surface tension was fun to replicate at home. That was the year I applied to MIT. I was so excited to learn that Dianna went there, and the fact that she moved from Hawaii gave me the confidence to move from Alabama and go!

I'll have to look through old episode but it was about 2 years ago when Dianna was talking about her joy and excitement about science and I really identified with this since I have similar feeling about science.

The LIGO stuff that was like watching history while it was being made. Just to see the actual places and listen to the actual scientists was incredible.

Choosing a favorite is hard as there are so many videos I absolutely loved but if I must choose a favorite, then I would have to go with the video about The Large Hadron Collider! Get well soon Dianna; we miss you very much!

I always show my Physics IV class the video on the Twin Paradox, so I guess that's a favorite. But my daughter took my class this year and tried to recreate the video in which Dianna breaks a wine glass through resonance. So I think that one would be my new favorite.

The episode on Visualizing stable vortexes. Came from 3Blue1Browns video. Went on to learn optics, biomedical imaging, turbulence modelling and perform research in biomedical imaging and oceanography! Diana is among my motivations to do the academic rigour I’m pursuing.

I do not recall the first video I saw, but my favorite continues to be the Tic Tac energy conservation video. I would make my students watch it because I wanted to watch it. I also use the Hawaii volcano video in my 9th grade curricula because it continues to be solid.

Her video on the hydrogen fuel cell cars. I think it's important people understand alternatives to battery EV's and there is no better person to explain how they work. Diana's passion for science can captivate any audience.

Her visit to CERN and the associated discussion of anti-matter was both fun and interesting! I think that episode really showcases what I enjoy in Dianna's content.

Her videos on the Hydrogen cars and infrastructure was really informative and has really helped me understand how the electric car conversation can be more than just batteries! Thank you so much for all your videos.
