Hi guys!! ๐
The second MerMay piece is finished which means it's time to take you into another step by step! I decided to make this post public so anyone who visits the page can get a little glimpse of the content I post :)
โฆ First, materials:

1. โฆ I forgot to take a picture of the sketch step :c so here are the inks:

2. โฆ Rough colors done with Procreate to visualize better each color I need to mix with watercolors (I said colors way too much). This is helping me A LOT, instead of conforming with whatever color I get from mixing, like I always did, I'm pushing myself to create the exact tone of the color I wanted and that gives you so much more control over the final result.

3. โฆ First watercolor layer:

4. โฆ Second watercolor layer:

5. โฆ Details with Copic Markers. I mostly used a light yellow marker to make the water warmer where the light hits. Also used violets and blues for shadows! You can totally do this with watercolors too but I just prefer doing it with markers to have more control over it.

6. โฆ Added more depth to the blue with more watercolor layering

7. โฆ Gouache time! I use gouache for ALL kind of details. It is opaque and amazing for highlights, strands of hair, scales etc. This part is where everything comes together but also where I can mess everything up ๐

โฆ Some details:

โฆ Anddd the final photo with color retouches:

I had a lot of fun painting this one! I tried to record the process but I got frustrated with my camera and then my Ipad storage got full... so no video. But I do have the process of the other two pieces I've done, I'll edit them and use them to do some voice over videos answering your questions :)
Hope you liked this!
Thanks so much for your support! I'll catch you up on the next one โค๏ธ
