As former SWAT I have to humbly disagree with you a little bit. Military training trains you to fight a military enemy meaning well led, organized, trained and disciplined fighters. SWAT trains you to fight criminals and gangs which is what the threat will be post grid. The priorities are different: in the military the mission comes first and only after that is reduction of casualties; in SWAT reduction of risk and casualties comes first and the mission is secondary to that. Rank is strictly observed in the military where as in SWAT, whoever has the most situational awareness, irregardless of rank, can give orders even to superior officers. The military trains to take cover and return fire when attacked. SWAT trains to return fire and taske cover because when you're dealing with civilians that are not military, you're safer if the enemy is taking cove and isn't returning fire than if you have cover but they are still firing at you. There are many other differences as well but I don't want to write a book. The main point is SWAT is better trained to fight after the apocalypse than military trained people because we understand the enemy better.

the above mentioned references should serve as a basis for a sop as well as local data and trends. leaders of a Tribe need to decide how they are going to operate. I'm no Che fan by any means, but good to learn from.
