Introduction
As part of our efforts to maintain full transparency within our operation, it has been decided that every quarter, the chief officer of Anime Herald, LLC must compile a quarterly report detailing our financial results.
This document outlines our organization’s finances, as well as an evaluation of our performance over Quarter 1 of our 2026 fiscal year, which ended on March 31, 2025.
Notes:
Unless stated otherwise, all values are in US Dollars
Current Finances
As of March 31, 2025, Anime Herald has $3,588.54 in total cash on-hand. Of this, $700 is reserved for articles commissioned and approved, with $350 being held for writers, and $350 for editors.
Income
For our most recent fiscal quarter, Anime Herald reported a total of $1,396.54 (average of $465.31per month) in total revenues. The breakdown is as follows:
Patreon: $1,369.47
Ko-fi: $15.00
Interest Income: $12.07
This quarter, we saw an increase in general subscription revenues via Patreon, as well as two large, one-time donations via Ko-fi. We are thankful to our backers, who continue to make it possible for us to keep growing and evolving as a publication.
Expenses
Invoices are composed of payments to writers and our editorial team for articles, as well as Samantha’s $50 monthly salary. This quarter, Samantha waived her salary for all three months, as she was on sabbatical. As such, this quarter, Anime Herald posted a total of $1,330 in invoice payments, which were paid out via the Anime Herald bank account.
In addition, we entered pre-publication for Anime Herald Magazine, through which we made payments for the first articles, and the cover illustration. We paid $732.65 for the illustration, via Samantha’s personal funds.
Infrastructure costs this quarter, which include hosting for the Anime Herald website, was priced at Digital Ocean $62.92 per month, or $188.76, which were paid using Samantha Ferreira’s persona funds. Starting next quarter, these will appear on Anime Herald’s credit card transactions.
In addition, we maintain an account with Google Workspaces to handle both document sharing and email accounts for the organization. This cost $208.02 ($69.34/month), which was paid for using the Anime Herald bank account.
Miscellaneous Expenses
Anime Herald recorded two categories of “Miscellaneous” expenses this quarter. The first is $1.77 in surcharges on incoming PayPal payments.
Totals
For the third quarter of Fiscal 2025, Anime Herald, LLC saw $2,461.20 in total operating costs. Of these, $338.76 was paid via Samantha’s personal funds. $909.09 was paid directly, using Anime Herald’s accounts.
Against earnings of $1,396.54, Anime Herald recorded a total shortfall of $1,064.66 for the quarter.
These numbers appear dire on their face. However, the majority of our shortfall comes from early payments for Anime Herald Magazine’s launch issue. Minus Anime Herald Magazine payments, we’d be looking at a $332.01 shortfall, which is roughly in line with our early-year results for last year.
With this in mind, we have chosen to be pragmatic and keep our break-even goal at $500, which will grant us roughly $61.24 per month (according to annual calculations) as a buffer.
Our next fiscal report will be due on July 31, 2025, and will be our annual report.
