hi dan, just joined inner circle today. about the election/the trump video you made, thank you for that honestly. i feel like when big things like that happen, especially since i honestly was not expecting him to win & was prepared to at least feel a level of relief like how i did for the 2020 election, there was definitely an incredibly somber mood where it felt like i couldn't find any joy in anything - at least for that day. and i've also kind of adopted that mindset that some people have been trying to promote (i remember this being dominant specifically in 2020 during BLM protests) where it feels like everyone has to have this moment of silence like you mentioned & you're not supposed to post anything funny or unrelated because it feels inappropriate. at first when i saw you post a video joking about voting for trump, i felt kind of disgusted because there was just so much anger during that day, but actually watching it really made me laugh for the first & only time that day & i really appreciate that. i agree that it seems like this downward spiral for humanity has been & will be long & drawn out & that we should be allowed to have moments of laughter to at least take a break from the destruction. this was way more drawn out than i was intending it to be, but basically i wanted to thank you in general for your work since i've been struggling a lot this year with several losses in my life & your content has been one of the places i've been able to consistently return to for reprieve <3 just binged a bunch of inner circle vids & im so excited to get through all of them. i wish i had gotten this sooner because since really getting into your stuff in may, i've always wondered what was going on behind the scenes, especially during breaks. i'm really happy you put in this effort to document your process & i'm glad i can finally support one of my favorite creators (: thank you again for everything

Dan, what are your favorite parts of LA and the surrounding area, especially parts that someone who doesn’t live there might not know about? I’ve visited twice and only experienced a fraction of the city, but it always fascinates me thinking about how complex cities are and how certain areas are perceived, strictly spreading as a suburban boy living in a city now.

While the memes and jokes aren’t ideal (because ideally people would want to consume or stomach politics in a “mature” way), I do think the way people react to the content is positive. It resonates. I’ve also seen clips of your videos used as reaction videos in conjunction with relevant takes. You’re definitely going to have way more chances to go viral in 2025 too. The past week alone has been a sh*t show!

What about compliments from Inner Circle members, who may not fully know the real you, but have seen behind the curtain? How do you feel about those?

alex

Dan, have you read any Mark Fisher?

Lol incredible and imho I think ur personal politics are very apparent underneath everything you share and the work always speaks for itself which is what art should always be IMHOOOO!!!

This week has definitely been Kafkaesque. And yet not unexpected at all. Me and a few other people were watching the results in the discord and honestly, just a rough night. I had prepared myself for a Trump win. At some point, I just saw all this red and had a moment of sitting and staring at the wall and went to bed. I agree with what you said about political beliefs. When people feel lectured, they often stop being receptive. That quote you mentioned—white people when gas goes up 35 cents—first it makes you chuckle, and then it makes you think and come to conclusions yourself. As helpful as infographics and links can be, they start feeling almost... background noise, so many people post them, and then the frustration and harm continue. It might very well be a long road to the bottom of hell, but I appreciate you for making us all smile, laugh, and think along the way. Take care, Dan!

You’re so right, not everything needs to be commented on or discussed publicly. I am so sick of fighting with people, especially online. I don’t need that negative energy in my life. What you said about setting goals really resonated with me. I’ve been trying to figure out where my life is headed and for a long time, I hated myself for not having any sort of direction. It’s nice to know that I’m not alone and it’s possible to achieve great things without making concrete, long term plans.
