Development Blog #48

EDIT: So I did share an image I had already posted. Seems like those 3 weeks with fever had fried some bran cells up there :) So here's a Halloween image, but instead of Jess and Laura, it's Jess and Paola.

Hi, all.

I finished the work on Paola, so I'm resuming work on the game. As I've said before, the plan is to have a small update at the end of this month. Its main focus with be the branch where Jessica doesn't go out for the evening, and then closing up the day properly for both branches.

As far as Paola is concerned, Dantes has been having some personal problems the last couple of weeks, so I'm not sure when he can do the adaptation work. But as soon as he's back to speed, it shouldn't take long. I'll keep you updated.

Have fun, and as always, thanks for the support.

glad to know that your back and working again with jessica, the sad thing is it you will release a small update for her this month. but still glad to have you back, take care.

StangSmith

well, since we have to stay at home for the c-19 virus, you will have plenty of time to work on jessica XD. obviously I'm kidding, it's a really bad situation, I hope we'll get back up

Thanks. Though you do have to concede that Jess will likely never go back to the 2 month turnaround. The paths have branched out too much and there is an exponential amount of work increase on your part. Tacking on a side project will only exacerbate the production tempo. And I don't think Paola will only take 2-3 weeks either, given your propensity to overproduce frames. Just my two cents. If Jess is only coming out 2-3 times a year, then I'll see what I can do to support your Patreon while still allocating my budget to my other pledges. Cheers, and thanks again!

I don't have a job, I just have savings that keep me afloat. Don't worry about the "attacking me" thing, whatever you think I want to hear it, I'm not some moody teen who gets offended by people's opinions.

stoperArt

Shit, I was wondering why haven't I posted this one. Apparently I have. Now I have to change it...

stoperArt

I understand that, but it was well out of my hands this time.

stoperArt

My plan is still the same - work on a JOHN update for about 2 months, then a small distraction with a side project for 2-3 weeks. Sadly it's proven hard to keep that schedule lately. Hopefully no more health issues this year.

stoperArt

I love his game too... I wait frenetically his upload.... I distract myself while waiting by playng other games. I hope that Stoper understand how this game is important for us.... without attacking him.

NATALE

I agree but he has one of the best games around so would love to up my patreon contribution for more content, If you do a poll of how many people would pay more to get more content, it will suprise me if less then 50% wouldn’t pay more for more content

gicashut

It's not for defending StoperArt, but there are a lot of game makers who have worse uploading timing... I think that game making isn't for Stoper the main activity... surely he has a job....

NATALE

That's the exact same image you posted 3.5 months ago (#39). It would be unfair to make fun, since there was actually a pretty good update 2 weeks later - but it is a little bit funny ;)

at the rate, we will have a release every quarter, this is bad, from 2-3 a quarter to one is just a bad slip, I love your work but I am just disappointed in the cadence, I know quality takes time but as creative professional I can say that too much time would get me fired:))

gicashut

feel the same way, use to contribute a lot more, but lately you have been dropping the ball, one update every 3 months almost, it’s not gonna make your profile grow or be sustainable.... fan art is made quicker, you need to deliver and not do another game.... or do both.... the other game might not even make it to be published and if it does, we will get it but we still paid. Game devs are starting to really drop the ball, small updates every 2-3 months, you lost the hunger and that will unfortunately cost you patrons and revenue

gicashut

I agree, I have remained on the $1 tier because I find stoper's update path too confusing and I do not want to pledge towards side projects that take development time away from JOHN.

Yo man, thanks for the update! Looking forward to Jess again! One question - how is your Patreon going to oscillate from here on out? Meaning, are you going to flip between Paola and Jess every 3 months or so? If so, are we potentially looking at Jess updates twice a year? If that's the case, please let us know. It might influence how some of us contribute based on what content is currently being worked on. Cheers, man! Thanks again for such awesome quality work.
