This is an outtake from the peony photoshoot Elly and I did together last June. I accidentally set the timer off while adjusting the camera. She looks sweet, and annoyed, and so pretty.

It’s been almost 2 months since we’ve visited, and the last one went so quick. Long distance feels longer sometimes. I like this picture, her patient feet, her impatient gaze. Here’s part of a love letter I wrote to her this morning.

Beauty, I miss you. My pulse and my eyes miss you. I’m piecing together parts of you as I stare out the window and wait for Spring to make magic with those bare tree branches. I think of the peachy tones in your skin, the ink and veins in your hands, the curve of your hips when they rest against me. I think of your strength and your resolve. I think of your strong will, your bruised legs, your guts. I admire you from afar. I breathe you in when you’re close. Your hands on me feel like a mirage, a fever dream. I miss your soft bedroom voice. I miss our laughter and how it rolls around us. I think of your fingers in my hair, how I tingle, how there hasn’t been enough time for those small discoveries. I think of us entwined and the camera clicking. I think of you, your wrists, your keen eye, your long limbs. I think of you, the creature you are in your paintings, and the creature you are in front of me. Give me your best Medusa stare, I’ll charm every single snake hidden in your hair. I want all of you eating from my palm. Not to tame you, just to let you rest. To admire you, and fortify you, and whisper beautiful things. I’m daydreaming of gardens and fairies and sweet sirens of the lake, all of it looks like you.
