I am also jumping in with my (late) recommendation to watch the Long Pond sessions, especially since you guys liked the production so much - you get to hear straight from Jack and Aaron (and Taylor lol) and see them play!

Hailey F.

2024-12-22 20:12:23 +0000 UTC

Thanks so much for reacting to folklore. Subscribed to your channel to watch this. I made it only half-way through the comments, so apologies if this is a repetition. Fun fact: There is a song in which Taylor apologizes to an ex. From the Red Album. The name of the song is Back to December. Adding my voice to those encouraging you to either watch or react to the Long Pond Studio sessions. Taylor, Jack, and Aaron reflect on meaning of the songs and what they were trying to accomplish. Also, Kevin, I think you would like watching Jack on piano and guitar, and Aaron on guitar, base, etc. I love watching the three of them play together on each song.

You should do Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions so you can see her perspective on where she was coming from. I just found you guy's and I'm loving your reactions

Issa Pacheco

Lol at the Matt Healy reference. Loved this video! Recommend evermore, Midnights, and Tortured Poets then go to the old stuff. Also, echo everyone saying watch the Long Pond Session for this, you’ll appreciate it so much.

Please please please do evermore and then TTPD!!

Brianna Davin

2024-11-15 21:29:21 +0000 UTC

Loved this reaction and how open you are to all music. I’m not sure if you’ll ever react to the tortured poets but i think you’d both like the anthology much more than the original album. Just something to think about for a future reaction.

jennifer

2024-10-31 22:05:57 +0000 UTC

I don’t buy the whole Betty/August “Jack” fantasy story thing. I think it’s her not wanting people in her business (esp. bc it involves an affair) so she told her fans it was ~fantasy~ … in truth all songs are part reality, part fantasy, and part meaning the listener ascribes to it. I loved that part of the discussion about the meaning you can pull from something not written specifically for you and I’d add that this is actually T Swift’s superpower - she writes songs that so many people relate to

Nelson Corchado

2024-10-29 17:06:22 +0000 UTC

You have to listen to The Lakes which is the one bonus track in this deluxe version of this album!! So underrated and IMO should have made the album as a regular track

Lauren K

2024-10-29 15:57:24 +0000 UTC

Now you guys need to react to this album in full live form AKA “Folklore: Long Pond Studio Sessions” 😄 makes this already amazing album somehow even better! I wish I could watch it for the first time over again

Lauren K

Devan Murphy

2024-10-29 01:27:19 +0000 UTC

So glad to see some appreciation for Epiphany. I think it is often overlooked and under appreciated. I didn't see this in other comments, but yes, the first section is the experience of a soldier in WWII. Her grandfather was in the battle of Guadalcanal. A couple of interesting musical bits - during a couple of instrumental interludes you hear a sort of soaring solitary horn. This is reminiscent of Taps, which is played at military funerals by a single horn. The sound at the very end is Taylor's heart beat on a heart monitor. Anyone that has spent a time with a very sick loved one has the sound of a heart monitor burned in their brain.

Great reaction guys!! As you’ll see in the documentary, amazingly Taylor and Justin vernon had never even met before when they recorded exile in their separate studios.. makes the chemistry on that song even more remarkable

Jamie Grossman

2024-10-28 04:22:23 +0000 UTC

I bought the patron just to watch this in full…. You must do every more and tortured posts department. In two parts since it is so very long.

There’s a reason why August is a hit on this album despite not being a single. It really is one of the best here. Even Jack Antonoff himself thinks this is one of his best productions

John Earl Dela Cruz

2024-10-26 18:22:38 +0000 UTC

You guys should listen to illicit affairs live from the eras tour. I love this version sooo much more it’s like a whole new song:) loved this reaction btw<3

We aren’t giving bad dudes money (even though I’d rather do it through this Patreon than actual streaming) In the wise words of Taylor: “if a man talks shit then I owe him nothing”

Annette House

2024-10-25 05:41:43 +0000 UTC

i love the way you guys speak about epiphany. its also one of my favorites and i got it as a surprise song when i saw her in Singapore (and ended up trying to explain why it's so emotional to the 8y/o boy next to me and now he probably needs therapy whoops). I did laugh when you said "please cry, I need it for the thumbnail" which was a good break in the action from the very emotional commentary. Also, you gotta watch the long pond sessions. It explains the background to almost all of the tracks and you will both likely cry.

Annette House

2024-10-25 04:42:21 +0000 UTC

You guys should listen to the Chick’s formerly the Dixie chicks!!!!!! Best country band ever

2024-10-25 00:24:15 +0000 UTC

i loved this reaction SO MUCH! it was so thoughtfull and passionate, i hope you guys keep doing reactions to her music, because there's SO MUCH to impact. It would be so cool if you guys could react to the folklore documentary and then evermore, wich is the folklore's sister album. Also, this was not her first project with Antonoff, they first worked together back at 2012/13 in a soundtrack for a movie, with the song "Sweeter than fiction", and they've been working together in every project ever since.

Ana Luiza Sant'anna

2024-10-25 00:23:42 +0000 UTC

my dudes this made me so happy, been watching you for a few years and was curious what you'd think of folklore. I think you'd love evermore or even the second part of TTPD (the anthology) I await them :)))))

After listening to Taylor’s discography over again a few years back (I grew up didn’t listen to much of her music, and music in general, after 1989) folklore is still a top contender but Evermore seems to have beaten it out of first place! Folklore and Evermore are sister albums and my two favourites. Seeing your reaction to folklore you guys would LOVE Evermore!!! Definitely recommend checking it out and I’m sure we’d all love to see the reaction!!

I think your comparison of the beatles’ career and taylor swifts is a good one. Ringo and Paul both have said they are fans of taylor and compare “beatle mania” to the pandemonium surrounding her now. Also Taylor wrote “Sweet Nothings” on her Midnights record about Paul and his wife 🥰

you should definitely react to long pond studio sessions, you get to see jack, taylor and aaron playing the full album with the live instruments it’s really great

Grace dickson

2024-10-20 22:10:28 +0000 UTC

rachele

2024-10-20 21:58:01 +0000 UTC

You def gotta do the sister album, Evermore, next. It was released 5 months later in 2020 during the pandemic and is a unit. After that, it's really up to you after that... do you want to listen in order to see her growth or by similar genres? After Evermore, I would do either Midnights 3AM Edition (dreamy synth pop), 1989 (pop bible), or Red, (country, pop, rock, little dubstep). Rep/Lover after. Speak Now (country pop/rock) and Fearless (country pop). Depends on you if you want to do TTPD somewhere in the middle of this or end with it. Make sure to listen to Taylor's versions (TV) and the vault songs!! There are two TV albums we're waiting on and that's Rep and Debut and we're hoping any day now lol so if you want, you could wait until those are released to listen.

rachele

2024-10-20 21:57:07 +0000 UTC

if you are looking for suggestions of where to go from here, i would love to see y’all react to the long pond studio sessions on disney+. it’s her and the two album producers (aaron and jack) playing the album live from start to finish, and taylor / the producer who worked on the song, talking about each song. also, evermore, folklore’s sister album 🫶

I know you said you don’t like TTPD - I think if you guys go through her discography and finish with that album, you will appreciate it. Even if you only do the standard 16 tracks. It’s such a perfect next step for her career - IF you’re as engrossed in her music as swifties are

I'm drinking Earl Gray tea and eating a cookie! I absolutely love hearing you guys geek out over Aaron Dessner's production! I've been such a huge fan of both The National and Taylor Swift, so it was a dream when Aaron and Taylor partnered up to make music. The songs he produces on her most recent projects are by far some of my favorites in her whole discography. It would be so awesome for you guys to react to some of The National's music! Personally, I feel like Trouble Will Find Me and High Violet are their best records.

Great reaction and I think folklore is the right spot to start. Evermore has to be the next step as it is a sister album to Folklore. From there you can go anywhere: it's important to keep in my mind though that folklore and evermore (and in my opinion the second part of the tortured poets department too) is what taylor is capable of but sometimes she chooses not to tackle because of different style choises in the albums, like in midnights or lover or 1989

This was so lovely guys!! folklore really captures that ephemeral nature of growing up, how transient relationships are when you're young and the world feels like it ends at your backyard. would love to see y'all do evermore as well- champagne problems and cowboy like me are two of her best tracks ever imo.

S

2024-10-11 12:49:38 +0000 UTC

Perfect place to start. There is an unending amount of lore to Taylor and her records, so I don’t blame you guys for not knowing where to start/go from here! Taylor spent most of her career writing about her own experiences and during the folklore set in Eras she mentions that folklore was all about getting out of her own mind (covid times) and writing creatively, making up characters and seeing what stories she could come up with. This produced the gold that is folklore and evermore. I hope you’ll do evermore, the sister album, next!

Tegan Bassett

2024-10-11 08:22:23 +0000 UTC

Ashley

2024-10-11 04:34:01 +0000 UTC

Allison

2024-10-11 04:25:28 +0000 UTC

Epiphany is so so so so amazing and beautifully sad, but it's just so hard to listen to for me. I can still remember the first time i heard it during the pandemic and ugh idk how else to explain it but it just brings me back to that feeling of hopelessness and sadness when I hear it. Taylor did such an amazing job with that song but it just hurts!! Anyways, loved your reaction to this (I literally screamed to my roommate that my fave reaction channel dropped a folklore reaction and that I had to get some rosé for when i watch) and hope to hear more Taylor in the future!! (Although I can already see Kevin's tears to Marjorie off Evermore and I want it but also don't know if I want him to be put through that pain 😅) (but still Evermore is my personal top contender for the next Taylor reaction) PS sorry for all the parentheses hahaha (like I said, I grabbed rosé)

Loved you guys reaction. Its so fun. Love listening to your insights. Btw, you'd love the "folklore: Long Pond Studio Sessions" it's on Disney+ and she performs all the folklore songs live with Aaron Dessner and Jack Anton off and she also explains each song. Taylor live is really good. If you're interested, I can send you guys the full movie. I have it on Google Drive. Also, with The Tortured Poets Department, it's a double album. So the second part of the album (tracks 17 to 31) is called "The Tortured Poets Department The Anthology" and all the songs there have the folklore and evermore production so I think you guys will dig it.

Tal

2024-10-10 22:04:55 +0000 UTC

I like all of y’all’s stuff and just got the Patreon recently. This video is all I needed to confirm why I got the Patreon. I love all music and was wondering why you hadn’t done Taylor swift yet. So happy you did this album and can’t wait for more Taylor records.

This is also my fav Taylor album!! If you choose to continue with her discography I think Evermore should be next since it goes hand in hand with this. After that idk haha

i think that’s the point. you’re in the autumn setting reminiscing about the late spring and summer, hence why it’s called folklore. retelling stories of the past.

I feel you. I think the hostility can totally go both ways though and that guy above is a perfect example. Even after connor and kev come in he still feels the need to sound off. I've definitely had some takes about Taylor in the past that have been overly judgmental but I've totally seen the other side of things too and was simply saying this one wasn't for me (pretty politely). It will always ultimately come down to connor's choice for what makes the cut but everyone on patreon especially should get to voice their opinions if they aren't being a dick about it.

As an older swiftie (34 y.o.) I understand what you mean. Because it does feel intimidating to start messing with you didn't mean to begin talking to. As a a Taylor fan I am biased, because I do feel people should separate her fans from her work, but to each his own. I do wanna explain to you the way swifties experience with non fans. Because most of the times the comments are really toxic against her and her music when all these people wanna do is shitting on Taylor without giving a chance. And they judge her based on nothing with real merit. Which makes the swifties always feel defensive which translates to attacking. I don't like when it happens because I believe to each his own, esp with music, where it's very subjective. But it is also annoying to see comments all the time shitting on Taylor just cause she's not he most famous artist in the world right now.

Yessss, ok, sounds good! I did enjoy the 36 Chambers listen. I'm just a rap-head, followed the channel for the rap reactions. So for my own selfish interests, I'd just like to see how Kevin feels about some other rap classics. But I will need that RTJ reaction expeditiously.

Say what you will about Taylor, this is legitimately fantastic work and it came at such an important time. We needed a boost during the pandemic, I wasn't a big Taylor guy but damn I loved this one.

this album got me into taylor swift during quarantine. i had only heard her singles before and was questioning why this had been grammy nominated for AOTY, so i gave it a listen and it genuinely changed my perspective of her forever. i am so happy about it. there was me before folklore and me after folklore, and i will never go back to who i was before . i am so happy that you did this album and i only hope u move onto evermore eventually because it’s my all time favorite taylor record. but i think it’s important to start her discography with folklore bc it introduces you to her songwriting and production style in such a taylor-way while also seeing a “new” side of her.

Re: Aaron Dessner - he’s also in a group with Justin Vernon called Big Red Machine (great music, worth checking out), so there’s a connection there. Taylor talks a little about the Bon Iver feature in the Long Pond Studios video someone else mentioned. That also has an amazing live version of Exile with him 👏🏻

I get this album was meant to go through the spring and summer seasons but does anyone else get a fall/winter feeling from folklore and evermore? It is an album to listen to in the background while you're laying on the couch, having the chimney going, reading a book, and you're just staying inside from the cold.

Dad Reacts to Taylor Swift - folklore

Comments

Please get dad on Evermore ASAP!!! 🙏🏼🥹🤎

kevin would love some boygenius

Your dad would love Marjorie from evermore

I am also jumping in with my (late) recommendation to watch the Long Pond sessions, especially since you guys liked the production so much - you get to hear straight from Jack and Aaron (and Taylor lol) and see them play!

You should do Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions so you can see her perspective on where she was coming from. I just found you guy's and I'm loving your reactions

Loved this reaction and how open you are to all music. I’m not sure if you’ll ever react to the tortured poets but i think you’d both like the anthology much more than the original album. Just something to think about for a future reaction.

You have to listen to The Lakes which is the one bonus track in this deluxe version of this album!! So underrated and IMO should have made the album as a regular track

Now you guys need to react to this album in full live form AKA “Folklore: Long Pond Studio Sessions” 😄 makes this already amazing album somehow even better! I wish I could watch it for the first time over again

I get it, the guitar is tingly! Haha "horny". My favvv song, together with Ivy on evermore

So sorry to hear about issues with your health, Kevin!!! Thinking of you and wishing for quick relief!!!

Same!!!

wait are you going to the eras tour????

Please react to the lakes🙏🏼

I subscribed to your patreon for this specifically! Please do more Taylor swift

rewatching this, eating nuggets

all too well ❌ all too much ✅

You really need to watch Exile and Illicit Affairs from the eras tour, they’re somehow 100x better, it’s incredible

I think Folklore is a perfect place to start, that’s where I started too 🤍

I really hope you do evermore.

You’re a different breed of swiftie, you know. I didn’t thought it would be possible for a man to show that he’s a genuine swiftie without overdoing it. Sounds and looks refreshing, thanks. 💙

evermore must be next! they’re sister albums! thanks for finally doing taylor!

subscribed just to see the uncut and you guys gotta do evermore and tortured poet anthology

this is my superbowl

Great reaction guys!! As you’ll see in the documentary, amazingly Taylor and Justin vernon had never even met before when they recorded exile in their separate studios.. makes the chemistry on that song even more remarkable

I bought the patron just to watch this in full…. You must do every more and tortured posts department. In two parts since it is so very long.

You should react to Zach Bryan!!!!!

I’m sorry but you’re legally obligated to listen to ‘evermore’ now. That’s the law.

There’s a reason why August is a hit on this album despite not being a single. It really is one of the best here. Even Jack Antonoff himself thinks this is one of his best productions

You guys should listen to illicit affairs live from the eras tour. I love this version sooo much more it’s like a whole new song:) loved this reaction btw<3

You should react to Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions on Disney+

I think Egypt station is actually a pretty decent album

Also important mentions, she was featured on a National song called "The Alcott" and was also on a song called "Renegade" by Big Red Machine which is currently made up of Justin Vernon & Aaron Dessner ❤️

I have lots of thoughts but I'll say Taylor Swift shoegaze would change my life

We aren’t giving bad dudes money (even though I’d rather do it through this Patreon than actual streaming) In the wise words of Taylor: “if a man talks shit then I owe him nothing”

You guys should listen to the Chick’s formerly the Dixie chicks!!!!!! Best country band ever

this reaction was so worth the wait!!! i just knew dad would appreciate taylor and her song writing. plz react to the folklore studio pond sessions & evermore next but i am SAT for whatever taylor reaction is next! ♥️

Plsss do evermore next or red tv

This is my favorite comfort album as well.

Red next! There’s two amazing duets on there.

ohhh, and also the lakes, one of her most poetic songs

i've been waiting so long for a taylor reaction, i'm literally just here for it

my dudes this made me so happy, been watching you for a few years and was curious what you'd think of folklore. I think you'd love evermore or even the second part of TTPD (the anthology) I await them :)))))

Dont worry she didnt sell the house!

Also I think you guys would really like “Carolina” a song she made for the movie “Where the Crawdads Sing”

my favorite taylor album lets gooo

I think you guys would love evermore for a bit of folk, indie country!!

Thank you for the “seven” love!!!! Literally have it tattooed on my body lol

Same

I so agree! Love that haha I also feel I have a life before folklore and after

Listening to TTPD last is my rec, you have to know Taylor and her history through her music to truly appreciate that album.

Reputation has slowly become my favorite taylor swift album, it's aged wonderfully

you should definitely react to long pond studio sessions, you get to see jack, taylor and aaron playing the full album with the live instruments it’s really great

Also, you missed the deluxe song The Lakes. Incredible song. Make sure to do the deluxe version for evermore (or future albums) because one of her best songs is on evermore deluxe version.

oh i’m SEATED

pls listen to sam

Eating a chicken bun from a chinese bakery and drinking peach tea. Locked tf in!!!

I know you said you don’t like TTPD - I think if you guys go through her discography and finish with that album, you will appreciate it. Even if you only do the standard 16 tracks. It’s such a perfect next step for her career - IF you’re as engrossed in her music as swifties are

Love the reaction guys, thanks for that! But you missed one song! The Lakes! Love to see your reaction to this one!

T Swizzle has entered the building! Hey lads, love all your vids over here in the UK - would love to see you both react to Raye - My 21st Century Blues. Or just listen in your own time haha.

Would love to hear your guys' thoughts on Ethel Cain - Preacher's Daughter

What do you mean?

The absolute heresy.

If you guys are wanting to do a listen through of her discog, I’d recommend doing it with the original versions just to get the feeling of what was originally intended in the music

id love to see you do TTPD last… fans are 50/50 love it/hate it. most agree a lot of songs on side a are growers

if you like the new perspective of betty, theres a song on speak now called “back to december” which is very much an earnest apology and declaration of regret

Epiphany is about her grandpa! And Jack first began working with Taylor during 1989.

Would love for you guys to do the Lizzy Mcalpine albums and or Calico by Ryan Beatty if yall haven’t heard them yet, highly recommend

I can’t wait to watch you react to more Taylor!

OHMA GOD IVE BEEN COMMENTING FOR U TO REACT TO FOLKLORE ONY OUTUBE FOR SO LONG I CANT BELIEVE ITS HAPPENING

Would love to see a reaction to Hard Times or Brand New Eyes by Paramore !!!

Better time than ever to do Bon Iver’s self titled

Love this, all my music comes from you guys lol

two best tracks off evermore. :)

I would love to see you guys check out the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor album. I dunno if you know the band, but they’re just so fantastic, and truly unique. I think the new album is a good gateway intk their music.

LOVED this reaction🥹 Evermore has to be next for a Taylor reaction. I think Kevin will love the lyricism and all the features too! Another 10/10 🤩
