โWith their previous two albums, 2 COOL 4 SKOOL and O!RUL8,2?, BTS sang about the dreams and happiness of teens. The songs spoke about young people living without a dream and schools that force rigid and homogenous thought onto its students. The new album, released on February 12, 2014, continues to focus on school and teens. As hinted by the title, SKOOL LUV AFFAIR, the albumโs main theme is the love that blossoms in the school.
This album is a culmination of the โSchool Trilogyโ project that discusses the topics of most interest to teens their own ageโdreams, happiness and love. Such penetrating insight into the hearts and minds of young people led to the absolute support that BTS has received from fans their age. The members again directly participated in the making of the songs, vowing to ensure that the songs reflect the reality of the music fans of their own generation.โ

Possibly one of the times you heard and remembered it from could be the past reaction on Chapter 4 of TRoB Deleted Scenes & Bonus Content, the same skit from this album was part of the bonus content ๐ (Sorry, I had to reaffirm this before posting, so I believe you can check it out around the 58min mark from your past reaction) ๐๐ Thank you for this! I always picture it in my mind as suga and j-hope flirting with the same girl, it's such a fun song but the progressive message behind hits as hard as paldogangsan. I think it's hard for us to truly understand the impact of "regionalism" in Korea - that is, the prejudice against different regions and particularly the Gwangju vs Busan/Daegu feud. The back and forth between suga and j-hope and rm coming through at the end with "it's all love, North to South everybody loves" perfectly reflect the narrative of Paldogangsan but with a lighter spin. In the BTS book that just came out (you really need to get your hands on it, it'd be so useful for where you're at in the journey btw!) j-hope talks a bit about regionalism and how he experienced discrimination being from Gwangju for the first time when he came to Seoul. It's such an interesting topic to me, and you'll see more of it in the absolute banger Ma City, in HYYH! ๐๐๐

I understand reacting to the song itself and then deep diving into the lyrics takes up a good portion of the video and ofc of ur time, but live performances honestly just add so much more to the song itself. Most songs are arguably better live tbh!! I hope we could watch some together maybe in part 2 or in a separate reaction when you can ๐

2023-07-12 00:06:20 +0000 UTCIn regards to Boy in Luv, Itโs not necessarily one of my favorite BTS songs. Iโm more into their R&B stuff, but I do like it amongst their more rock type songs. And having watched their MV here, it does look somewhat juvenile. But I have to say (as if this doesnโt come up enough ๐) when I saw them perform this song on the 2019 MAMAs, I liked it a lot more. Like idk how to explain it but it was so much moreโฆ ๐ค.. grown??and sophisticated? Idk lol. Anyway, maybe if you guys watch that performance, along with the other songs, youโd like it too ๐

And as for the sour/refreshing thing itโs like in English how we might say something is โcoldโ in certain dialects like AAVE, but we donโt mean cold ๐ฅถ we mean cold ๐ฏ lollll. So he means refreshing, itโs just that he uses a word that typically means sour outside his dialect.

It's one of the songs I always listen to on my way to work because Hobi's verse makes me smile and the end of the song gives me a lot of energy. I'm glad you liked it too.
