In fact the triangle between Naruto Sakura and Hinata was more hinted in the anime rather than the manga. That's why I guess they did it again in the manga, in order to hype the shipping with the same effect they had when NaruHina and NaruSaku fans did sometime ago.

Sakura did not like Naruto anymore than just a friend, thus there was no three-way triangle with him. Yet Sumire does seem like the "Hinata" of BorutoxSaradaxSumire triangle.
