So what does finishing a noobtown book look like?

Sarah, my wife and editor is busily cracking away on book 6. She's in the finale right now and is just about done for the night. As of right now, we have 66 more pages to go.

After she is done I have to do a stat check, my 'favorite' part. That's where I go through the whole book and make sure all the numbers match up. That takes about 8 hours, and at this point is mainly double checking everything against my notes.

The next step is a full listen. I will go through the book via a text to audio program and listen to the whole thing, cover to cover. I'll make any minor edits I feel are necessary and then the book is done. There are a few bits of dialogue that never quite work until you hear them out loud several times.

Next I have to turn it into a KDP file for publication which involves both converting the file and ensuring that the book is in the proper format. I usually screw that up and get yelled at by someone for something I missed on page 300.

Then comes the publishing on KDP's website. I have to setup a pre-order this time so that I have a bigger one day sale so I get those sweet sweet Amazon algorithm points. Previous I ninja released, or released when finished without much fanfare. That's not how Amazon works anymore so I have to play ball and do the process.

Next comes my other favorite part, advertising and that stuff. I don't like advertising but it is a necessary process. I'm planning on advertising on Amazon and Facebook this time pretty hard.

This is the point where I have to pull all 'paid' samples offline which I'm mostly convinced includes all the Patreon stuff. When that stuff starts vanishing, the file is up.

Finally it publishes and I'm virtually incoherent for a few days while I wait on early reviews to come it. The easiest way to sink a book on Amazon is to get the reviews below a certain point, so please review the book if you like it. It really helps me out.

Then I take a few days off and start working on book 7, which I haven't ready started and am not 15k words into already.
