Act 3 is a go
Added 2022-02-13 23:46:29 +0000 UTCI'm 90K + words in and the book is looking solid. Act 2 might need a bit of fluffing but I doubt anyone would mind if I included more words.
In the meantime, I'm setting up the awesome ending of this book for the awesome setup of the next one. My 20k words a week drained me emotionally to the point where I was just staring at the wall trying to come up with stuff. Now that I'm back down to 10k a week, I'm much more comfortable with everything. That means that I can have a 120k book's first draft in 12 weeks... or in practical terms I expect this one's first draft done in about 3.
Flip side... finishing the first draft doesn't finish the whole book. I've got spit and polish to work on and then handing it over to my editor who is, frankly, mean to me. She wants me to use grammar, real words, and actually have a coherent plot which I will admit I may have occasionally omitted in several of my works.
So far the book is still on outline and on time, so we will continue this merry trek until it is completed. I'm going to start posting chapters after I finish the first draft, but they are not final until I say so... which is a polite way of saying in one book my editor caught a plot hole in chapter 50 that required extensive rewrites of 10 previous chapters. Phew. No fun.
Get ready for another strong week and have fun! GO BENGALS! Unless, of course, you are a Rams fan, whom I do not want to alienate, so also go (home) rams!
